Stickers for SMALL BAGS are $7.50 +HST for a sheet of 10. Small bag size is no larger 18 x28 inches.
Stickers for LARGE BAGS are $15.00 +HST for a sheet of 10. Large bag size is no larger than 28 x 36 inches.
The stickers cover the landfill fees whereas the $50 garbage tax covers garbage pickup and delivery to the Trail landfill.
Both small and large stickers are sold at the following locations:
- Rossland Pro Hardware
- Ferraro Foods
- Rossland Grocery
- Davies Sales & Service Ltd
There must be an appropriate sticker VISIBLE on each bag or we will not pick up your garbage.
For all inquires please phone Davies Sales & Service at 250-362-7303.
The City of Rossland no longer has a drop off station located on the Old Cascade Highway. If you have missed your garbage day, local drop-off services are located at the Regional District's McKelvey Creek Regional Landfill - 1900 Hwy 3B in Trail.
Recycling
Recycling is a regional function and is managed under a contract through the Regional District of Kootenay Boundary. Click here for more information about the recycling services offered.
Curbside recycling is easy and convient. However with any new service there are just a few steps you need to follow to ensure the cost of the service remains affordable. Remember, recycling is an industrial process, similar to mining. The purer the material, the greater the value to the processer.
Material that is contaminated with non-recyclables represents a cost to taxpayers. By organizing your blue box you can make it easier and cheaper for the RDKB to provide this service.
Follow these simple steps:
- Place collapsed cardboard beneath the blue box
- Place newspaper on the bottom of the blue box
- Pile the tin cans, rigid plastic food containers and glass food containers on the newspaper
- Place all mixed paper into the blue bag provided and place on top of the other materials in the box.
Please! Remember, we live in bear country. All your food containers retain bear-attracting food odors. Please rinse all food containers. Please do not put your blue box, or your garbage container at the curb until 7a.m. of the moring you are schduled for pickup. Blue boxes and garbage containers left overnight are magnets that attract bears to your neighbourhood.
Rossland City Hall has blue boxes for recycling available for purchase.
How to Use the Schedule:
1) Locate your neighbourhood on the map
2) Identify the colour associated with your area
3) Your pickup day is the day on the calendar that matches the colour of your neighbourhood.
Note: Pickup schedule is not affected by Statutory Holidays unless the pickup day falls on Christmas or New Years Day. Residents will be notified of any change in the pickup schedule.
