WATER SMART ACTION PLAN

As a signatory to the Columbia Basin Water Smart Charter, the City of Rossland has set a target to reduce gross community water consumption by 15 per cent by 2015. This target will contribute to Columbia Basin Trust’s cumulative reduction target for all participating Water Smart communities of 20 per cent by 2015. The City’s 2009 baseline gross consumption was 915 ML. Therefore, a 15 per cent reduction from this baseline will be equal to a savings of 183 ML, or 183,000,000 litres per year. In order to achieve this reduction target, the City of Rossland has developed the Water Smart Action Plan.
