Located at 1765 Columbia Ave, the Miners’ Hall is an important heritage building for the community and currently houses the Pottery Society and the Preschool on an annual basis. During the months of June, July and August the Gold Fever Follies uses the main hall for their performances.
The building is owned and operated by the City of Rossland, with a strong working relationship in place with the local Arts Council and Rotary Club. The Recreation Department regularly schedules programs in the main hall, primarily on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evenings.
Miners' Hall Weddings & Special Events
If you're interested in renting the Miners Hall, there are a few important points to note. The Miners Hall is a "do it yourself" building. Rental of the Hall does not include:
Set up or take down
Marketing or "front of house" services
Bar, bar staff, or catering equipment
Access to the lighting, sound, projector or screen
If renters require access to the screen, projector, sound or lighting, they must communicate with the Rossland Arts Council to book an available technician to operate the equipment. Renters are not permitted to operate the equipment themselves and therefore need to book and pay for the services of an Arts Council approved technician. The audio visual equipment rental information can be accessed on the Arts Council website, at www.rosslandartscouncil.com.
Please fill out the required RCAC rental forms and submit them to the Arts Council AT LEAST one month before your event, to email@example.com. You will receive an email indicating receipt of your information, within 10 days. If the Arts Council Coordinator is not able to find an available technician for your event, you will have to obtain the equipment elsewhere.
At the conclusion of your rental, you are required to clean the main Hall and kitchen and put back all chairs and tables. Renters are required to clean the main Hall to the level in which you rented it, or will be fined an additional fee.
If you're interested in renting the Hall for a wedding, please note:
The Miners Hall has rectangular tables. Some are 8'x2.5', some are 6'x2.5', some are 8'x3'. We have no round tables. Renters have access to all the rectangular tables. There are no linens or tablecloths in the Hall. Chairs are comfortable, padded, burgundy chairs and can be rented from the Arts Council for $25.00 per event. Wedding rentals are typically for several hours on Friday night to accomodate setting up and decorating, the whole day on Saturday and several hours on Sunday to accomodate clean up and removal of personal effects. All rental times are charged to the renter.
There are enough dishes, cups, wine glasses etc for service for approximately 150 people, max. The cutlery and dishes are mostly matching although have some variation in colour (white dishes) and style ("silver" cutlery).
The kitchen is a small, "warming only kitchen" and foods can only be heated and kept warm in the two ovens. There are 4 burners to heat sauces, etc, but there is a restriction on frying of any foods. There is a large fridge, a small freezer, a large coffee maker, coffee / tea urns, a small kettle and a microwave. There is also a small commercial dishwasher.
There is a restriction on decorations in the Hall. Nothing can be attached to the walls of the Hall. Candles have to be enclosed in large vase, or mason jar or similar protection and cannot be exposed. No tapered or exposed candles permitted. There are hooks on the beams on the ceiling where items can be hung from, including lights and hanging decorations. There is power on the ceiling that can be used for lights and other decorations that require electricity.
The Recreation Department can hold your booking for the Hall with a $50.00 charge that is part of the overall rental fee if you move forward with the event. If you are negotiating with the Arts Council to rent their equipment and they are not able to secure a technician for you, you can cancel your booking and we will hold $30.00 of the initial booking as an admin fee.
The Miners Hall is not available from the end of June until the end of August each summer as it is used by the Gold Fever Follies Theatre Company every summer. If you have any questions about renting the Hall or are interested in a specific date, please contact the Recreation Department, at (250)362-2327 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
