WATER USE RESTRICTIONS

Stage I - Conservation Advisory

Stage II - Alternate Day Restrictions

Implementation:

June 15 to September 30

Restrictions:

  • Properties with even numbered addresses shall be permitted to use lawn or garden sprinklers or other lawn or garden watering devices, or underground automatically timed sprinklers, only between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on even numbered calendar days and shall be prohibited at any other time.
  • Properties with odd numbered addresses shall be permitted to use lawn or garden sprinklers or other lawn or garden watering devices, or underground automatically timed sprinklers, only between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on odd numbered calendar days and shall be prohibited at any other time.
  • Properties zoned P-1 – Public & Institutional shall be permitted to use underground automatically timed sprinklers only between the hours of 12:00 midnight to 3:00 a.m. on even numbered calendar days and shall be prohibited at any other time.
  • Properties zoned P-2 – Park and Open Space shall be permitted to use underground automatically timed sprinklers only between the hours of 12:00 midnight to 3:00 a.m. on odd numbered calendar days and shall be prohibited at any other time.

Stage III - Alternate Day Restrictions (reduced hours)

Implementation:

If the water reserves of the City are reduced to a main reservoir level of 0.5 meter below full capacity, the Manager of Public Works may limit the use of lawn or garden sprinklers or other lawn or garden watering devices, or underground automatically timed sprinklers or other non-essential use of water on any property in the City as follows:

Restrictions:

  • Properties with even numbered addresses shall be permitted to use lawn or garden sprinklers or other lawn or garden watering devices, or underground automatically timed sprinklers, only between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on even numbered calendar days and shall be prohibited at any other time.
  • Properties with odd numbered addresses shall be permitted to use lawn or garden sprinklers or other lawn or garden watering devices, or underground automatically timed sprinklers, only between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on odd numbered calendar days and shall be prohibited at any other time.
  • Properties zoned P-1 – Public & Institutional shall be permitted to use underground automatically timed sprinklers only between the hours of 12:00 midnight to 3:00 a.m. on even numbered calendar days and shall be prohibited at any other time.
  • Properties zoned P-2 – Park and Open Space shall be permitted to use underground automatically timed sprinklers only between the hours of 12:00 midnight to 3:00 a.m. on odd numbered calendar days and shall be prohibited at any other time.

Stage IV - Lawn Sprinkling Ban

Implementation:

When the previous stages fail to save sufficient water and reserves of the City are reduced to a main reservoir level of 1.0 meter below full capacity, the Manager of Public Works may further limit the use of lawn or garden sprinklers or other lawn or garden watering devices, or other non-essential use of water on any property in the City, including the use of underground automatically timed sprinklers as follows:

Restrictions:

  • Watering of all lawn areas shall be prohibited.
  • Garden watering only permitted by hand-held hose with a spring-loaded shut off device or by means of hand held containers.
  • No water shall be used for swimming pools, wading pools, garden ponds or decorative fountains unless they are self circulating.
  • Use of a hose to wash sidewalks, driveways, exteriors of buildings, or to water boulevards is prohibited.
  • Home washing of motor and or recreational vehicles is prohibited.

Stage V - Total Outside Watering Ban

Implementation:

When the previous stages fail to save sufficient water and reserves of the City are reduced to a main reservoir level of 1.5 meters below full capacity, the Manager of Public Works may issue a general order to suspend all outside watering.

Restrictions:

Total suspension of all outside use of water.

Following the imposition of watering restrictions, the Manager of Public Works shall revoke general lawn and garden watering restrictions when the water reservoir level has recovered to previous trigger levels.
